Caring for Your Skin After Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a relatively minor and safe procedure, but there is no doubt that the laser can have a temporary effect on the skin. At the least, your skin will be very sensitive and need a little bit of extra care and moisturizing. Here’s what you need to know about caring for your skin after laser hair removal.
Wear Soft, Loose Clothing
Your skin will be very sensitive, maybe more so depending on the area. If you wear coarse or tight fitting clothing, it is likely to irritate the area, causing pain and discomfort. Wearing soft, loose clothing will protect your skin from being irritated.
Avoid Hot Showers
Laser hair removal can dry out your skin significantly, so it is important not to do anything that will add to the problem. Very hot water is actually very bad for your skin, so during this recovery period it is important to use warm but not hot water for bathing.
Avoid Sun Exposure
You should avoid spending time outdoors in the sun for about two weeks after your laser hair removal treatment. The laser used causes a heat response, which is made worse by sun exposure. For about two weeks after the treatment, sun exposure is much more likely to cause sunburn or sun damage.
